Conceição Lyra School

Since the 1960s, Usina Caeté has maintained the Conceição Lyra School, an educational institution located in the municipality of São Miguel dos Campos (AL), one of the company's greatest achievements in terms of social projects.

Currently, the number of former students who are part of the Usina's workforce is quite significant. In recent decades, more than 15,000 children and adolescents have participated in the institution's educational process. Today, about 410 students are enrolled.

The non-profit educational unit offers courses from Early Childhood Education to Elementary School (Preschool to 9th grade) to a student body composed mostly of the children of the company's employees, also serving children and adolescents from the community. In addition to a quality education, students also benefit from school meal, school transportation, and book bank programs.

By adopting a policy of social responsibility, Usina Caeté is certified by the Abrinq Foundation as a Child-Friendly Company. This recognition reflects the company’s commitment to education, health, and the eradication of child labor, among others.

The vision behind this educational project is that ensuring access to and continued attendance of children and adolescents in school makes a significant contribution to improving the country’s socioeconomic conditions.
